1. Who we are
This policy explains how Interstellar Academy in Physics – Dr. Mohamed Adel (“we”, “us”) collects and uses personal data. We teach physics to secondary-school students in Egypt, online and in teaching centres. This policy applies to our student platform at students.interstellarseries.com, our Facebook Page and its Messenger conversations, our WhatsApp numbers, and the support chat on our platform.
2. Students under 18
Most of our students are under 18. When a student registers, we ask for both parents’ phone numbers so that parents can follow their child’s attendance and results. A parent or guardian can make any request described in this policy on their child’s behalf.
3. What we collect
When you register
- your full name, and your phone number, which is also your username;
- your father’s and mother’s phone numbers;
- your school, governorate, home address, academic year, and whether you study at a centre or online;
- a password, which our database stores only in hashed form;
- a profile photo, which is required.
While you study
- your attendance, and your answers and grades in quizzes, homework and exams;
- which lesson videos and materials you open;
- your balance top-ups, payments and purchases;
- notes our staff make during phone calls and follow-ups with you or your parents.
When you contact us
- the messages, images and voice notes you send us through the support chat, WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger;
- on Messenger, the name and profile picture Facebook shares with us when you message our Page.
Technical information
We automatically record technical information when you use the platform, such as IP address and browser/device type, to keep accounts secure and prevent unauthorised account sharing.
4. How we use it
- To create and run your account and give you access to lessons, homework and exams.
- To keep parents informed of attendance, grades and account status by WhatsApp message.
- To confirm registrations by phone, and to answer your questions and support requests.
- To manage your balance and payments.
- To keep accounts secure and protect our course content.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. At the end of each academic year we anonymise closed accounts: we remove names, phone numbers, addresses, schools and photos, and keep only attendance and grade records that no longer identify anyone. At the same time we delete all support, WhatsApp and Messenger conversations from the academic year that has ended.
7. Your rights and deleting your data
You, or a parent on your behalf, can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data. Email developer@interstellarseries.com with the student’s name and registered phone number — or, if you only contacted us on Messenger, the name on your Facebook account. You can also send the request to our Facebook Page in Messenger.
Within 30 days of your request we will anonymise your data as described in “How long we keep it” and delete your conversations with us.
8. Security
Access to personal data is limited to our staff through password-protected staff accounts, and our sites use encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
9. Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. For any question about your data, email developer@interstellarseries.com.
